Egyptian Churches' Council Detaches Itself From Politics

The heads of the Egyptian churches, meeting for the first time within their newly-established council, stressed that their council aims at serving churches in Egypt and has nothing to do with politics.

The new council will cooperate with all recognized church entities, namely the World Council of Churches, the Middle East Council of Churches and All Africa Conference of Churches, the heads of the churches said in a statement following their meeting under Pope Towadros II at Saint Mark's Coptic Orthodox Cathedral.
