Ukrainian churches at odds over military situation

PROPAGANDISTS OF RUSSIAN ORTHODOX CHURCH IN UKRAINE DO NOT KNOW WHO ATTACKED UKRAINE; THEY SAY "HISTORY WILL FIGURE IT OUT"

Religiina Pravda, 23 April 2021

A propagandist of the Russian Orthodox Church in Ukraine, Lev Klimenko, declared on the pro-Russian "First Cossack" channel that only history can figure out who is correct and who started the Russian-Ukrainian war.

"History will sometime figure out who was guilty in this war and in extending it so long," the pro-Russian propagandist said.

As the Religious Front of Ukraine reports, he never named Russia as the aggressor and he did not say just who sent its troops into Crimea and the ORDLO [Select Regions of Donetsk and Luhansk Oblasts] and attacked Ukraine; instead he began criticizing a chaplain of the PTsU [Orthodox Church of Ukraine], Roman Grishchuk.

In addition, the propagandist of the RPTsU [Russian Orthodox Church in Ukraine], Lev Klimemnko, even hinted at the capitulation of Ukraine, if the Russian Federation wishes it. "The conditions of war and conditions of peace are not dictated by your notions about justice but by the military superiority of the opponent, who will impose the conditions of capitulation or an act of ceasefire," Klimenko said, criticizing the statement of the primate of the PTsU about the victory of Ukrainians over the Russian aggressor.

As reported, in Chernovitsy oblast during a funeral of the 24-year-old serviceman Yaroslav Karliichuk, who died at the front, a priest of the PTsU, Roman Grishchuk, accused the UPTs [Ukrainian Orthodox Church] of the Moscow Patriarchate of "blessing the Russian aggression in the war," after which five priests of the UPTsMP left the cemetery where the hero was being buried.
