Freedom of religion keystone of life in Turkey


(MENAFN) On Friday, Oct. 8 the Turkish Justice Minister highlighted the freedom of religion in the nation, noting that everyone lives as they desire, despite their beliefs.

In his visit to the Deyrulzafaran (Mor Hananyo) Monastery in the Turkish southeastern province of Mardin, Abdulhamit Gul stated: "our aim in politics is that everyone believes, lives, and worships as they wish in Turkey, regardless of their religion, thoughts or beliefs."

Gul continued: "This is tradition, this is culture. Maintaining this atmosphere is our basic approach."

Gul also voiced his contentment to pay a visit to an Assyrian monastery established in the fifth century and to see its historical ambiance.
