Join Us for “Nuclear Prayer Day 2022”

On August 6, 1945, at 8:15 AM, the first atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima, Japan. Since then, the potential for nuclear catastrophe has grown to an unimaginable scale. This August 6th, on the 77th anniversary of that horrific tragedy, people around the world will be joining in prayer for a future free from the threat of nuclear weapons.

The Parliament of the World’s Religions is one of the co-sponsors of Nuclear Prayer Day 2022, organized by our colleagues at Voices for a World Free of Nuclear Weapons (URI). On August 6th at 8:15 AM PST / 11:15 AM EST Voices for a World Free of Nuclear Weapons will be going LIVE on Facebook. The program will begin with moderator Kehkashan Basu the first winner of the Voices Gorbachev/Shultz Legacy Youth Award, president of Green Hope Foundation, and Trustee of the Parliament of the World’s Religions. Several voices members will say a few words to officially commemorate the inauguration of Nuclear Prayer Day. Proceeding that the nuclear prayer video will be shown with the original founding members saying the prayer.
