New Website!

On August 13th we launched our completely redesigned ARDA website! The new website designoffers intuitive menu navigation and search functionality, among many other improvements. Now over 20 years old, the ARDA has grown from a single data archive with 33 data collections to a massive website with almost 1,200 data collections and dozens of features. The new website allows the ARDA to continue to provide you the best data on religion for free.

Anniversaries of Historical Events:

In September there are many anniversaries of significant events in religious history. These include Charles Finney's Rochester Revival (1830), Billy Graham's Los Angeles Crusade (1949), and Birmingham Church Bombing (1963).

In addition to reading about these single events, you can delve into substantially more religious history by viewing any of our nine interactive timelines. These include specific timelines dedicated to religious groups, women, race/ethnicity, and more.

The revised General Social Survey, 2021 is now live on our website. If you downloaded this dataset previously, please download the latest version here.

The General Social Surveys (GSS) have been conducted by the National Opinion Research Center (NORC) annually since 1972 and biannually beginning in 1994. The GSS are designed to be part of a program of social indicator research, replicating questionnaire items and wording in order to facilitate time-trend studies. This data file has all cases and variables asked on the 2021 GSS.
