Prof. Dr Isabel Apawo Phiri extends greetings to Globethics international conference

Prof. Dr Isabel Apawo Phiri, deputy general secretary of the World Council of Churches (WCC), shared greetings with the international conference of Globethics, taking place in Geneva from 17-19 October.

The theme of the conference is Building New Bridges Together: Ethics and Values at the Heart of Quality Education.

In her greetings, Phiri cited a number of publications co-published by the WCC and Globethics, many of them relating to the WCC’s Pilgrimage of Justice and Peace and to churches’ common public witness.

The theme of the Globethics conference, Phiri noted, resonates with the theme of the WCC 11th Assembly, “Christ’s love moves the world to reconciliation and unity.” Both themes shape the work of churches in the decades to come, Phiri said. 

She also noted the increasing importance of including youth in ecumenical gatherings, including the Globethics conference.

“We look forward to listening to intergenerational stories from around the world,” she said.
