Anglicanism in the Public Square Conference – Part 1

Collin Bastian on November 29, 2022

On October 28, The Institute on Religion and Democracy’s John Wesley Institute was proud to begin its Anglicanism in the Public Square Conference. The Conference, which lasted two days, brought together a group of scholars of various nationalities and Anglican denominations to delineate a coherent political theology in light of the broader Anglican movement’s historical, theological, and ethical principles.

The Conference’s various speakers were divided across five sessions. The first session featured the Rev. Canon Dr. Daniel Inman of Chichester Cathedral, who spoke on “Anglicans and Empire: Negotiating the Past in the Public Square;” Ambassador J. Peter Pham, a Distinguished Fellow with the Atlantic Council and the Former U.S. Special Envoy to the Great Lakes and Sahel Regions, who gave a lecture entitled, “Graceful Seasoned Speech: The Unrealized Promise of Anglicanism’s Contribution to International Affairs;” and Professor John Milbank of the University of Nottingham, who spoke to “Anglicanism and Monarchy.”

The video recording of the Conference’s entire first session has been included below.
