More than 20 Jersey City religious organizations will gather for a one-hour service on Sunday to offer prayers, songs and readings for Mayor-elect Steve Fulop and newly-elected City Council members as they prepare to take office Monday.

Participating in the service will be leaders of Hindu, Jewish, Christian and Muslim religious institutions throughout Jersey City.

Local interfaith leaders have planned the service to focus on prayers and blessings for Jersey City and its new leadership.

"We feel that our community can stand together in prayer for Mayor Fulop and our City Council," said the Rev. Reginald McRae, Pastor of Mt. Pisgah A.ME. Church, which is hosting the service. "The people need them to succeed in our common goal of building a more just, peaceful, and prosperous city."

The public is invited to attend this interfaith service. Music will be provided by a mass choir of several congregations, a children's choir and a soloist.

The service begins at Mt. Pisgah A.M.E. Church, 354 Forrest St., at 3 p.m. on Sunday, June 30. A reception will follow at 4 p.m.
