Reacting to a recent report on Islamophobic attacks in Germany the Al-Azhar Observatory for Combating Extremism (AOCE) said more serious measures are necessary to combat Islamophobia, Youm7.com website reported.
The AOCE added that confronting far-right groups in Europe and doubling efforts to promote tolerance and peaceful coexistence in society are among the moves that can help tackle Islamophobia.
According to the recent report released by Germany’s crime prevention department, 62 attacks on mosques were registered in Germany in 2022, showing a 14-percent rise compared to a year earlier.
The report said most of the attacks were carried out by individuals affiliated to far-right groups.
Germany’s Central Council of Muslims, meanwhile, said the number of attacks mentioned in this report is below the actual number because some Islamophobic attacks are not reported to relevant organizations.
The Al-Azhar Observatory for Combating Extremism, according to its pages in social media, aims to correct the misconceptions and deviant ideologies and introduce the correct and true image of the teachings of Islam.
