A Tradition that Runs Deep!

On April 13th, 2015, the US Council of Muslim Organizations (USCMO,) successfully hosted its inaugural National Muslim Advocacy Day on Capitol Hill, marking the beginning of an annual event that has consistently grown in scale and achievements with each passing year.

This event is open to all, members and non-members alike. The two-day event brings together hundreds of Muslim delegates from all corners of the nation, welcoming representatives from national, state, and local Muslim organizations and communities. Its primary objective is to facilitate meaningful connections between Muslim organizations, community members, and their elected representatives in Congress. 

USCMO’s Advocacy Day focuses on advancing a legislative agenda that promotes equality and addresses social justice issues for the betterment of all Americans, irrespective of their faith or background. To equip participants with effective advocacy techniques and knowledge about the day’s advocacy issues, USCMO also offers a series of online training seminars in advance of the event.

The event provides USCMO members with a valuable opportunity to establish enduring relationships with members of Congress and policymakers. By engaging with Congress, Muslim delegates can demonstrate their commitment to fostering goodwill and cooperation while advocating for domestic issues that align with the interests and needs of their community. These issues encompass civil rights, education, immigration reform, and addressing the concerns raised by the Muslim Ban policy.

USCMO’s National Muslim Advocacy Day serves as a powerful platform for American Muslims to actively participate in the democratic process, make their voices heard, and work towards a more equitable and inclusive society.
