The twenty-first Building Bridges Seminar, chaired by Professor Daniel A. Madigan, S.J., met June 19–23, 2023 in Berlin, Germany, on the theme of "God’s Word and the Community of Faith: Christian and Muslim Perspectives." This international circle of scholars engaged in dialogical close reading of Muslim and Christian texts on the actuality, extent, nature, and modes of revelation—thus seeking deeper understanding of the similarities, variations, and particularities of the ways language associated with revelation is used in these traditions.

The public was invited to join the seminar’s opening session via YouTube livestream, which featured overview lectures by Professors Joshua Ralston (University of Edinburgh) and Abdullah Saeed (University of Melbourne), with responses from Professors Tuba Işik (Humboldt University) and Catherine Cornille (Boston College). Rev. Daniel Madigan, S.J. (Georgetown University), moderated the discussion.

The Building Bridges Seminar is planned and convened by Georgetown University, and this year it was co-hosted by the Berlin Institute for Islamic Theology, Humboldt University.
