The WFB participated in the forum on Transforming Mentalities

Mr. Phallop Thaiarry, President of The WFB, has designated Ms. Catherine Thiounn, represented The WFB to participate in the 15th International Forum of NGOs in Official Partnership with UNESCO, themed “Transforming Mentalities.” The forum was opened to both in-person and online at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, France on 24-25 January B.E. 2567 (2024) and organized by the NGO-UNESCO Liaison Committee in collaboration with UNESCO, in accordance with the Directives concerning UNESCO’s partnership with non-governmental organizations. This Forum primarily targeted NGOs officially partnered with the Organization. However, it extended a welcome to other NGOs, institutions, and representatives of Member States.
The WFB’s attendance at the forum was in view of strengthening its collaboration with UNESCO and the NGO Liaison Committee.
The Forum seeks to gather commendable practices in challenging the stagnant persistent discriminations and inequalities within societies and formulate tangible recommendations for action across various levels.
The Social and Human Sciences Sector, specifically its Section for Inclusions, Rights, and Intercultural Dialogue, showcased their efforts within the Transforming MENtalities initiative, which aims at fighting harmful stereotypes based on gender and promoting constructive social norms. Moreover, they highlighted their contributions to the Roadmap against Racism and Discrimination, along with the annual Global Forum.
The WFB, which had previously collaborated with this Section, is set to host the October Conference in cooperation with them.
The next NGO-UNESCO Liaison Committee Forum is scheduled to take place in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, from 15-17 April B.E. 2567 (2024) on the theme “Culture for Sustainable Development.”
