Agence France Presse reported Tuesday that Saudi Arabia "dismantled a terrorist organization" that was plotting to attack government facilities and foreign interests.

The interior ministry reported that its authorities arrested 62 suspected members of the unnamed terrorist group, including 35 Saudis who had previously been detained.

The arrested have alleged "links with extremist elements in Syria and Yemen," the ministry said.

Authorities were alerted to the plot through "suspicious activities on social networks" that in effect, facilitated the arrests, and are still looking for an additional 44 other suspects whose names have been submitted to Interpol.

Saudi Arabia experienced a wave of deadly attacks orchestrated by Al Qaeda between 2003 to 2006, leading Riyadh to implement massive operations to crackdown on any related suspected activities throughout the Kingdom.
