Letter: Religious rules for public are different

Don Sharp, Springfield

In response to David Lanham's July 20 letter, "Hobby Lobby ruling a victory":

In his first paragraph, he accuses President Obama of carrying on a war against religious liberty. This, of course, is ridiculous; he would rightfully be thrown out of office for doing this.

Then he speaks of the Founding Fathers as if he knew them. It's always nice to call on the Fathers to lend allure to incorrect statements.

The real truth is that the rules of religious freedom (or any kind of freedom) within a home or church are one thing, but the rules for religious freedom in the public sector are quite another. Try taking your clothes off in public, if you dare. After all, I have my religious rights, too.

And finally, no, a fetus is not, in fact, a living human being. It is a fetus.

The wart on my Aunt Minnie's nose is not her nose, either. it is only a wart, incapable of life on its own.
