French ambassador to UK: 'Everybody will be protected'

The French ambassador to the UK, Sylvie Bermann, one of the most prominent figures in the French diplomatic service, has said everyone, whatever their religion, will be protected in France.

Speaking to the BBC's Andrew Marr, she said France's principle of "laïcité" - or secularism - protects all religions and is about tolerance.

Ms Bermann was speaking ahead of a unity march in Paris, which is expected to attract around one million people following the attacks in France.

The ambassador will be attending a march in Trafalgar Square in London.

UK viewers can watch the Andrew Marr Show in full for 30 days.
